British Sign Awards 2020

The original UK Sign Industry Awards return for 2020

The Green Award 2020

Joint Winner of The Green Award 2020

John Anthony Signs

Multi-award winning John Anthony Signs is one of the premier sign makers in the UK and its vision is not just to be carbon neutral but carbon positive in the next two years.  To meet this goal, the company has created a ‘green team’ to improve its impact on the environment and has also brought onboard a sustainability specialist to help them make a difference.

In practical terms JAS has partnered with Estesian Technologies to develop wind and solar solutions for signage. Its own 6m tall main totem sign, car park lighting and main building fascia are now illuminated using a 1m wind turbine and 1.5m x 1m solar panel.  The aim is to roll this solution out to power signs and lighting off grid in remote locations or on grid to support the load.

Hybrid and electric cars are now part of the fleet and four car charging ports have been installed at the factory.  Hybrid is the minimum for all future car purchases.  All new acrylic sheet is now made from 100% recycled material and JAS is working with its supply chain to help them also make improvements.

Waste management in the offices and factory have been streamlined and waste collection is now fully traceable.  Paper cups and paper towels are things of the past, photocopiers have been replaced with eco-friendly machines, and even the urinals have been adapted so are now 80% more efficient in water use.  JAS have also launched a tree planting scheme.
