This category is for signs that make a statement.  Entries should be structural signs – either stand-alone or fixed to a building – that are designed to create a major impression on all who see them.

Entries should not previously have been entered for a British Sign Award

  • Provide a brief bullet-point description of the sign, including a short synopsis of the client brief
  • Describe the materials used in construction, reasons for selection and any particular engineering challenges faced.
  • Provide visual images of your project (up to 4  high quality images, each at 1 – 2 MB)
  • Entries must meet British and European standards where applicable(see entry form)

Judging criteria

The main criteria is the visual impact the sign makes, but the judges will also consider choice of materials and the quality of engineering and manufacture

This wide range of equipment such as  3 CNC Routers, Riveting Machines and  Saws give Blackburns  the ability to produce bespoke sign trays or cassettes and intricate shaped signs for external and internal purposes.

INCREASED CAPACITY AND QUICKER LEAD TIMES…Blackburns Metals & Plastics have invested heavily in developing the sign manufacturing element of its business, with the introduction of our third new  CNC Router to complement our existing machines,  and with the arrival of our new 4 mtr Beam Saw for close tolerance cutting of Acrylic, PVC Foam and Polycarbonate  has enabled Blackburns to increase its capacity, offering quicker lead times with the facility to cut specific and bespoke sizes, fret work lettering and shapes to our customers immediate requirements.  Manufactured from the full range of sign making materials, such as BCP composite sheet, Acrylic, PVC Foam, Polycarbonate and our new substrate Sealwise WCB.

With 10 strategically located distribution and stocking centres in the UK, Blackburns Metals and Plastics  provide a next day service across the whole range of our signage, plastic, composite, aluminium and stainless steel materials.
